Characteristics & Uses

ERA brand photographic paper Model RC is a new type of black-and-white RC photographic paper instead of traditional Barium Sulphate base. It has the characteristic of smooth paper base, no sucking up moisture, being processed quickly, it can obtain the brighter picture with no need for adding light. It can be developed not only by hand in normal temperature but also by speediness machine in high temperature.
ERA brand photographic paper Model RC has Silver Chlorbromide emulsion. With fast developing, better latitude, better washing, low fog, high maximum density, high white degree, clear image and rich gradation, this product can be used to make different sizes of portrait photos, scenery photos and art photos, especially the large size of photos for exhibition. It is a perfect black and white photo paper.
According to the use, ERA brand photographic paper Model RC can be divided into printing paper and enlarging paper, each of which has four contrast grades of #1(soft), # 2(normal), #3(hard), # 4 (extra hard) and each of which has several kinds of paper of glossy and silk surface. It has a good assortment of types.

Safety Lighting

Red safety lamp with the transmission spectrum scope of 630mn can be used in darkroom. Please unseal and use under safety light. Kodak No.2 safety light piece or other similar red safety light pieces can be used to compose safety lighting with 15w bulbs. The lighting scope exceeds 2 meters, and the continuous lighting duration canít be lasting too long.

Development & Processing

 1. Developing: Developer D-72 is recommended.
    Clean water (52 ºC)                                                          750ml
    N-methyl p-aminophenol sulfate                                        3.1g
    Sulphurous acid sodium without water (Na2SO3)            45.0g
    Hydroquinone                                                                    12.0g
    Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3)                                              67.5g
    Potassium bromide (KBr)                                                    1.9g
    Add water to                                                                   1000ml
When making the prescription, the preparation should be added according to the order as mentioned above. When using, get the raw liquor to dilute in proportion of 1:2.at 20 ºC, printing paper for 11/2--21/2 minutes, enlarging paper for 2--4 minutes.
 2. Stop bath: After developing, immerges photo paper in following stop bath solution for 20 seconds.
    Clean water                                                                    1000ml
    Glacial acetic acid (CH3COOH)                                        48ml
 3. Fixing: F-5 fixing solution is recommended. 
    Sodium thiosulphate acid (Na2S2O3 .5H2O)                      240.0g
    Sulphurous acid sodium without water (Na2SO3)               15.0g
    28%Glacial acetic acid (CH3COOH)                                   48ml
    Boric acid (H3BO3)                                                               7.5g
    Potassium alum (KAI (SO4) 2.12 H2O)                               15.0g
    Add water to                                                                1000ml
Immerge photo paper in fixing solution and flip it over, for 10 minutes at 20--25 ºC.
 4. Washing: Wash photo paper in running water for above 10 minutes. 
 Note: Prolonged immersion in water can cause edge penetration and print curl with resin coated paper, for this reason, avoid longest wet time.
 5. Drying: After washing, drying in a dust-free, airiness place, best result can be obtained by heat drying. 
 Note: RC photo paper should not be glazed or dried on an electric glazer, as this can cause the polyethylene in the paper to stick to the glazing surface of glaring board.
 6. Optimum permanence: The biggest cause of premature deterioration of black-and-white photographs is undoubtedly poor processing technique, notably inadequate fixing and/or washing. There had been, a resistance to using shorter fixing and washing times, where image quality and permanence are concerned.

Cautions

The photographic paper ought to be kept in the cool and dry environment within original packing. Paper in canisters should be placed horizontally. All kinds of paper should be placed 15cm high above the floor, avoiding direct bright sunshine and prevent harmful gases and radioactive objects from corroding. If opened, the paper should be used up immediately. The rest should be repacked up to avoid becoming damp.
In normal condition of transport and storage, photographic paper Model RC is valid for two years from the packing date.
